Sue Jo Horton, also known as Sujo, is a Los Angeles–based author whose writing is rooted in lived experience, faith, and hard-earned lessons. Her work challenges common misconceptions around infidelity — particularly the belief that cheating is more acceptable or forgivable depending on gender. Sue believes cheating is wrong, regardless of who commits it, and her story reflects the consequences of those actions with honesty and accountability.
Growing up, Sue witnessed her father repeatedly mistreat her mother through infidelity. Those formative experiences shaped her views on relationships and led her to vow she would never tolerate the same treatment or become like those she watched cause harm. Yet, as life unfolded, Sue came to realize how deeply learned behaviors can influence personal choices — even when we believe we are immune to repeating them.
Cheating Is Disgusting is Sue’s autobiographical account of confronting those realizations. As a retired hairdresser, she spent years listening to the stories of others while navigating her own relationships and personal struggles. Over time, she recognized how the patterns she grew up around unintentionally translated into her adult life and affected the way she loved and trusted.
Faith became a turning point in Sue’s journey. Through reflection, prayer, and accountability, she began the work of healing and personal growth. Writing this book was not about justifying mistakes, but about facing them honestly — with the hope that others might recognize destructive patterns sooner and choose a healthier path.
Sue also holds the distinction of being the first Black cheerleader at her high school, an experience that shaped her resilience, confidence, and sense of identity. These moments — both challenging and empowering — helped form the perspective that now guides her writing.
By sharing her story, Sue hopes readers can learn from her experiences, avoid repeating harmful cycles, and move forward with greater awareness, integrity, and healing.
